Start in the eternal city, Rome, where a tour offers you a short overview of sights including the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps. Take the rest of the day at your own pace to explore the sights that interest you, but don’t feel rushed to see everything. Rome is a massive, complex, and endlessly fascinating place, so consider adding an extra day or two onto the start of your trip to explore.

Set out early for Assisi, the mystic walled town of Saint Francis. Then spend an afternoon roaming medieval Siena, before going on to its traditional rival, Florence. Here lies the heart of the Renaissance, including the Piazza del Duomo, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the St John Baptistery, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. All these will feature on your guided tour, while your afternoon is at leisure to shop, sightsee, and experience the atmosphere of this beautiful city.

Speed your way to iconic Venice, stopping at Padua to admire the Cathedral of St Anthony, and pay your respects to Donatello’s Gattamelata. On arrival in Venice, a walking tour takes you to the Doge’s Palace, the Basilica of St Mark, the Bridge of Sighs and more. Overnight in this incredible city, then see it again in the morning, this time by boat before spending the afternoon at leisure.

Romantics will be touched by Verona, home of a certain lovestruck teenager’s famous balcony. Enjoy some time to explore on your own before a panoramic tour of Lake Como, and an overnight stay in Milan. A morning tour takes you to the famous Duomo, Vittorio Emanuele II, the Sforza castle and more. Depart from Milan, or transfer back to Rome.
